Battle of the basics

The past few weeks have been a curious mix of building up and clearing out. There were moments when it felt like I wasn’t making any progress at all. Yet I could sense myself standing more firmly on my own two feet.

Decluttering My Life, One Closet at a Time

While planning the new layout for my website, I realized that building a digital home runs strangely parallel to my physical life. As I structure and shape the site, the next clear “to-do” in my house presented itself: my wardrobe.

The Weight of “What If”

For years, ever since I gained weight, my closet has been a stumbling block. Despite having plenty of clothes, I never knew what to wear. I couldn’t get myself styled, and it felt like a heavy weight every morning.

Then I did something I don’t normally do. I reached out and asked for help. I invited a friend over who has a real talent for styling.

Asking for help, a powerful step

She said yes, and we spent an entire day trying on clothes, styling outfits, and—most importantly—discarding what no longer fit or was out of style. Internally, it was a confrontation. The past few years were financially tough, and I realized I had been holding onto many things “just in case.”

I was living my life as if I were still poor.

Clean Space, New Energy

Now my closet is calm, and so is my mind. I didn’t fail by asking for help. We had a good day, she felt valued for her talent, and I feel different moving through my mornings.

I’m taking this momentum into the rest of my house. No more saving things for “what if.” In my 369 notes, I wrote that holding onto the old is no longer necessary. I am moving forward without rigid deadlines, but with a clear sense of order.
